Avital Ash: Workshops Her Suicide Note Ever since she was a baby and her mother took her own life, Avital has felt summoned to the other side, aka the vast nothingness.
But she'd hate to be labelled a copycat, plus, who wants to turn into their mother? Avital Ash's critically acclaimed Fringe debut explores growing up a Hasidic Jew, depression, queer identity, and generational Holocaust trauma, all while being hilarious. The results are an irreverent show where Avital expertly bounces from black humour to jokes so silly you almost miss the gospel in them.

Avital is a writer on an upcoming comedy series for Netflix, with over 100 million views and over 300k followers for her standup on TikTok and Instagram. She had a recurring role on BARRY, and did voice over on the smash hit video game OXENFREE and its new sequel.

Avital Ash Workshops Her Suicide Note received 11 four-star reviews, including from The Telegraph, The Scotsman, and Chortle. She brings it to LA, NY, and back to the UK in early 2024.

Blizzard Blizzard is the brand-new solo show written and performed by Emily Woof, which premiered at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and transfers to Soho Theatre in summer 2024.

A woman’s brain-scientist husband falls ill just as he is due to give the keynote lecture at a Swiss conference. She reluctantly agrees to give the lecture on his behalf. But when she arrives in Switzerland, her life starts to unravel. Clothes don't want to be clothes anymore. A dress becomes reluctant to be seen in public. Emily Woof's comic, philosophical adventure asks what is the self, what is thinking, what is the body? And in a godless universe, how do we connect with this thing called the soul?

Emily Woof’s landmark solo shows Sex III and Revolver won back to back Edinburgh Fringe Firsts and were performed at Royal Court Theatre over twenty years ago. Now she is back with an intimate epic, a surreal and hilarious shaggy-dog story, about philosophy and neuroscience, dance and animals, love and the soul, which asks the question: how should we really live in body and mind?

Blizzard is directed by Hamish McColl, founder of The Right Size whose hit show The Play What I Wrote was a smash in the West End and on Broadway and whose movies as screenwriter include Paddington, Jonny English and Mr Bean’s Holiday.

With the submission window for the Verity Bargate Award open from 11 April until 17 June, Soho Theatre have been hosting playwriting workshops at venues across the UK and Ireland.
For this relaxed environment online workshop, led by Matilda Feyiṣayọ Ibini, we’re inviting artists who identify as disabled to join us on Zoom. Within the workshop, writers will be provided with information about the scope of Soho Theatre’s current programs, the three theatre spaces, and what storytelling and theatricality mean to us.
In the first part of the workshop, writers will learn about the Verity Bargate Award and Soho Theatre’s heritage of new writing.
In the second part we’ll discuss a script sample or two, investigating how they are structured, the form they take, their style and subject matter.
This workshop has been tailored to be a more relaxed workshop specifically for disabled and neurodivergent participants and will be hosted on Zoom with captions.
